In a frigid land far removed from the war between Harken and Crash, Sylph seeks the warmth of a lover’s embrace and the excitement of a barroom brawl as respite from the typical dangers plaguing her profession. Her holiday is soon upended, however, when an unassuming man hires her for a job simply too good to pass up.
As any breaker worth their salt knows, though, nothing is ever too good to be true. Not even for one so lucky as Sylph. And when memories she thought she’d buried rise to the surface, Sylph will have to confront a specter from her past if she’s any hope of living to see the future.
Running parallel to events in The Erelim: Search and Sacrifice, this short story gives readers a glimpse into the history and motivations of one of the most intriguing characters of The Erelim Series.
